Screen Recorder docs
License, Macs, and updates
What the one-time license covers, how to move it to another Mac, how to get a lost key, and how updates install.
Updated
The license
- Screen Recorder costs $49 as a one-time payment. There is no subscription.
- One license key works on up to 3 Macs.
- The app needs an active key to record.
- There is no account. Your key is the proof of purchase.
Use the key on another Mac
Install Screen Recorder on the other Mac, and activate the same key. If the key is already active on 3 Macs, remove it from one of them in the app first.
Lost your key?
Use the license key page. Enter the email address that you paid with, and the server sends your keys to that address again.
Offline use
The activation is signed, and the app checks it on your Mac. The app checks the key with the license server once a week. Between checks, it works without an internet connection.
A full refund cancels the key, and the app stops recording after its next check.
Updates
Screen Recorder checks for updates 10 seconds after it opens and then every 6 hours. It downloads an update in the background and asks you to restart. It does not ask while you record or edit. If you choose Later, the update installs when you quit the app. Settings also has a Check now button.
See the changelog for the changes in each version.
